How to Play Fear Me Online

The whole game runs in your browser. Four steps take you from this page to your first ending.

  1. Press Play Now. Click the Play Now button on the game preview at the top of this page. The official HTML5 build from itch.io loads inside the page; no download or account is needed.
  2. Pick Easy or Normal mode. Easy Mode shows a heart icon whenever a choice raises Jeff’s affection. Choose it for a first run, then replay on Normal once you know which lines are safe.
  3. Save at the start of every day. The story runs for seven in-game days. Keep a save at each day start so a bad ending only costs you one day, not the whole week.
  4. Replay for the other endings. There are nine endings. Open the Extras menu to see which ones you have unlocked, then use the walkthroughs to target the routes you are missing.

A full run takes about 1–2 hours; all nine endings take 5–6 hours. If the browser build stutters on a phone, the performance tips help, and saves live in your browser storage — see why a save can disappear.

What Fear Me Is About

A chance encounter with a legendary killer changes your life forever...

Your Ordinary Day Turns Deadly

You're a video store clerk having an ordinary day—until you misplace your work badge. A mysterious stranger named Jeff returns it to you, and from that moment, nothing is normal again. His intense fixation on you is both terrifying and strangely captivating. As Jeff stalks you to your home and forces his way into your life, you find yourself dragged into a nightmare of suspense.

Now you must endure seven harrowing days of “too close for comfort” encounters—from tense hospital visits after a violent incident to deadly games of hide-and-seek in your own house. Every decision you make could mean the difference between escape and a gruesome end. Will you gain Jeff's trust and make it through the week alive, or will you become just another victim of his twisted desires?

Meet Jeff the Killer

Jeff the Killer is one of the internet's most iconic horror figures—a disturbingly smiling murderer born from creepypasta lore. In Fear Me, Jeff is depicted with a chilling authenticity: violent, unpredictable, yet hauntingly human in fleeting moments. The game explores the precarious idea of trying to connect with someone who craves fear above all else.

This fangame stays true to Jeff's terrifying persona while adding psychological depth. You'll witness his unstable nature firsthand—the sudden rages, the dark humor, and the unnerving tenderness that surfaces when you least expect it. Can you build enough trust to survive his company? Will you attempt to understand the monster behind the smile, or will you run for your life?

Core Themes

  • Psychological Horror: Tense atmosphere, mind games, and the dread of the unknown.
  • Dark Romance: Twisted relationship dynamics that blur love, obsession, and terror.

What is Fear Me about?

Fear Me is a free horror-romance visual novel by Neesa. You play a video store clerk who loses a work badge, gets it back from a stranger named Jeff, and then has to survive seven days of Jeff the Killer’s obsession. Your choices raise or lower his affection and decide which of nine endings you reach.

Is Fear Me free to play?

Yes. Fear Me is released as a name-your-own-price game on itch.io. You can play the browser build on this page or download the Windows, macOS, Linux and Android builds for free; paying is optional.

How do I catch Jeff’s attention in Fear Me?

Stay consistent and curious instead of hostile. Choices that show interest, calm or honesty raise Jeff’s hidden affection score; running, calling for help or mocking him lowers it.
